FES (Morocco), June 27 (KUNA) -- Morocco''s Khazanat (Bibliotheca) Al-Quaraouiyine is one of the world''s oldest libraries located in the Safareen Square in the city of Fes, northeastern Morocco.
The Bibliotheca hosts plenty of rare and precious manuscripts, making it a destination of researchers in various fields.
These include a copy of the Holy Qura''n written in gold water on gazelle skin which dates back to the late 2nd century Islamic (Hijri) calendar.
There is also a rare copy of Muqaddimah (Prolegomena) of Ibn Khaldun, bearing the signature of the North African Arab Muslim historiographer and historian. It was listed on the UNESCO list of human heritage.
Al-Quaraouiyine has many other rare and unique manuscripts covering different fields of science, knowledge, religion and culture dating back to centuries before. (end) ry.mmj.msa
