Qatar- GCC Information Ministers Meet in Riyadh


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Riyadh March 08 (QNA) - Information Ministers of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) States held Tuesday their 24th meeting in Riyadh.

HE Sheikh Hamad bin Thamir Al-Thani heads the State of Qatar's delegation to the meeting.

In his keynote Saudi Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Adel Al-Toraifi affirmed necessity of matching the GCC countries' media language with the political rhetoric noting such a policy is necessary due to critical regional conditions.

He explained that responsibilities have turned greater due to "surrounding dangers" namely the terrorist and radical thoughts that contradict principles and values of Islam.He voiced confidence in the GGC States' ability to coordinate their media policies for the good of the region's nations.

GCC Secretary General Abdulatif Al-Zayani praised the several achievements made at the level of coordination between the GCC states in the fields of media and information expressing satisfaction at the unified media language already adopted by the media sector in the GCC countries.

He added that the directives and care of the ministers of information have great impact on the GCC states joint media and information march.He expressed hope that this joint information move will be an important addition to the promotion of the GCC countries' efforts towards achieving greater coherence and integration.
