UAE- GCC customs chiefs meet in Riyadh

MANAMA 22nd February 2016 (WAM) -- Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa Bahrain's Chairman of Customs Affairs attended the 14th Gulf Cooperation Council Custom Union's meeting which was held in the General-Secretariat headquarters in Riyadh.

During their meeting the chiefs of GCC customs departments discussed several issues on developments including one related to the method of Direct Remittance of Customs Duty Proceeds. They also talked about developments related to the potentials of the GCC Customs Data Centre undertaking the duties of the Arab Customs Data Centre.

The meeting also covered the issue of duty-exempted commodities under free trade agreements (FTAs) signed with other countries and economic blocs as well as the topics tabled by the GCC Chambers Federation and other customs-related issues.

A number of Directors of GCC customs departments also attended the meeting.
