Tobacco industry pours in USD170b to China's income


(MENAFN) The tobacco segment contributed more to China's state revenue in 2015, as it handed over about USD170 billion to public finance.

According to the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration (STMA), this figure reflected a substantial 20.2 percent surge from the previous year.

Moreover, the monopolistic segment is increasingly important to income with steady growth despite intensified efforts to control tobacco in public places.

China has 316 million smokers, or nearly 30 percent of the total population, therefore it's considered the world's largest tobacco producer and consumer.
