Yemeni VP meets UN envoy in Riyadh

RIYADH 10th January 2016 (WAM) -- Yemeni Vice President and Prime Minister Khaled Bahah has met with the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed to discuss the preparations for the coming round of talks with the Houthi rebels and supporters of ousted president Ali Abdullah Saleh.

According to a report from the Kuwait news Agency KUNA which was quoting the Saudi Press Agency Bahal reaffirmed the commitment of his government to the confidence-building measures in the run-up to the coming round of talks due to take place in mid-January.

Yemen's legitimate government will continue doing its utmost to restore peace and security in the country based on the provisions of the UN Security Council Resolution No. 2216 and the GCC initiative as well as the outcomes of the national dialogue Bahar affirmed.

In a related development Bahah chaired a government meeting that decided to form an economic committee to oversee the policies and programmes for economic recovery.

The meeting also reviewed urgent measures for restoring financial and monetary stability as well as curbing the rising rate of unemployment in Yemen.
