Saudi Arabia, Algeria share views on political economic issues- FM


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ALGIERS Jan 1 (KUNA) -- Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir on Friday said that the Kingdom and Algeria share the same views on political and economic issues.Bilateral relations are "distinguished and see significant progress under rational leadership of both countries" Al-Jubeir said in a statement to the Algerian TV as he concluded an official visit to the North African country.He added that he had had elaborate talks with his Algerian counterpart Ramadan Lamamra on cooperation ties.The talks were part of the 3rd session of the Algerian-Saudi Political Consultation Committee and addressed bilateral and regional issues and conditions in the Arab World focusing on means of reviving the stalemate Middle East peace process for the sake of establishing a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital the Saudi chief diplomat said.They also dealt with conditions in Syria Iraq and Yemen besides intensifying bilateral cooperation to fight terrorism and extremist thinking he added.On economy he said the two countries held consultations within the framework of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) on falling oil prices. Al-Jubeir stressed coordination among the member states for the good of producers and consumers.For his part the Algerian foreign minister said that 2016 will be "copious with achievements regarding partnership between Algeria and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia." He said that Al-Jubeir's visit was a positive step to push forward bilateral relations and to exchange views on all Arab issues particularly conditions in Syria Iraq and Yemen fighting terrorism as well as other regional and international issues of common concern.The Saudi foreign minister arrived in Algeria on Thursday after a visit to neighboring Tunisia to take part in the third session of the Algerian-Saudi Political Consultation Committee established in 2008.The Committee held two previous sessions the last of which was in Riyadh last April.
