SEHA Research Conference 2015 kicks off in Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI 16th December 2015 (WAM) -- Activities of the 6th Annual SEHA Research Conference - 2015 organised by the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company SEHA started today at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. This year's edition will focus on outcomes of health services with research papers presented by an elite group of specialists from world prestigious universities.

Dr. Matar Rashid Al Darmaki CEO of SEHA welcomed the participants wishing them all the best success saying that the conference intends to achieve excellent results in serving the health sector in the UAE and the world. He stressed that the prudent leadership of the UAE provides the medical sector as a whole with unlimited support and is keen to encourage creative scientific initiatives.

"The UAE's declaration of 2015 to be the year of innovation is a significant scientific breakthrough boosting all energies and capacities in various branches and disciplines of science and knowledge towards new distinguished horizons and phases in the march of sustainable development taking place in the United Arab Emirates." Al Darmaki said.

He added that the participation of a specialised elite group of local and world researchers and scientists at the conference which addresses research issues of healthcare outcomes and reduction of their costs is an important contribution to the unveiling of modern innovations. It is further consistent with the government's trend of supporting innovation in the UAE.

The UAE he said is witnessing rapidly growing development in the field of health and the medical infrastructure that comes within belief in its importance and priorities in building a human being enjoying good health and physical integrity. The UAE is keen to attract all scientific expertise and to provide medical institutions with all modern innovations in various disciplines.

One of the major elements of success and sustainability of any modern health system is the ability to control the financial expenditures and determine priorities based on indicators associated with scientific evidence and proofs based on objective research foundations. It puts the patients and their needs at the top of priorities to facilitate access to high quality and distinct medical services comparable to top-notch world services he explained.

He continued "Containing costs of healthcare services does not mean in any way to affect their quality. Here we resort to innovation to raise the value of services provided for the patient through the optimal use of available resources and thus raise level of health outcomes. This ensures an increase in the quality of services provided for patients."

Dr. Ali Abdulkareem Al Obaidli Executive Director of Academic Affairs at SEHA unveiled the launch of a smart application which includes all information related to the conference and participating research. The application is available on the website of SEHA.
