Kuwait- GCC leaders arrive in Riyadh for 36th GCC summit




(MENAFN - Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RIYADH Dec 9 (KUNA) -- Leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) arrived here on Wednesday to take part in the 36th GCC sumit due here later in the day.Amir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani arrived to head his country's delegation followed by King Hamad bin Esa Al Khalifa of Bahrain UAE's deputy President Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashed Al Maktoum and Deputy Prime Minister for Cabinet Affairs in Oman Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said.Al Said said in a statement upon arrival that the current developments have cast shadow on the regional and international arenas however the efforts exerted by the GCC leaders the march of the GCC has been full of accomplishments where all seek to preserve taking into account dealing with the unprecedented developments suffered by the world economy.He said Oman led by the wise leadership of Sultan Qaboos anew reiterates its full support to the blessed GCC march and its constant strive to coordinate with all GCC leaders for more consolidation of cooperation for the sake of preserving the supreme interests of the GCC states.For his part Qatari Amir expressed in a statement hope that the 36th GCC summit would come up with tangible outcomes to be up to the current serious challenges encountering the regional and international arenas in a way to boost the GCC march and achieve its sought objectives.Bahrain's King said in a statement upon arrival that he hopes the GCC summit would produce tangible results to serve the interests of the GCC states and peoples.He asserted that such Gulf meetings of the leaders are a good opportunity to exchange views over all issues of concern to their countries and peoples and to achieve prosperity and developments to their states.He added that the current developments in the region and the world necessitate that efforts of the GCC states be united to face such challenges.(end) fs.tg
