Riyadh and GCC summits report 2 Riyadh


(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) At an invitation of late Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al Saud the GCC Supreme Council eighth summit was held in Riyadh from 26-29 December 1987 in the attendance of the GCC leaders.
During the meeting the opening ceremony of the headquarters of the GCC in Riyadh was held. The building was co-opened by late King Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al Saud together with the other leaders of the GCC countries.
The meeting reviewed the GCC march in the political security military economic and social fields and reviewed the developments of the Iraq-Iran war the Arab Gulf region the Arab situation the Palestinian issue and Lebanon problem.
In particular the meeting praised the outcome of the extraordinary Arab summit held in Amman Jordan enhancing the Arab solidarity translated in putting a basis for the Arab joint action aiming to activate an Arab unified position.
The GCC reviewed the latest developments at the international oil market and underscored the importance of preserving the market stability and all OPEC member countries being committed to fixed prices and to cease offering direct and indirect price discounts.
