Kuwait urges Iran to fully cooperate with IAEA

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Kuwait has reiterated its call for the Islamic Republic of Iran be fully transparent in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
In a statement read out at the 70th session of the UN General Assembly on Tuesday, Kuwait's Diplomatic Attache Farah Al-Gharballi congratulated Iran and the major powers on the nuclear deal.
The deal would help ease tension and boost security and development in the region, she said.
She stressed Kuwait's support to the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes as per the non-proliferation treaty (NPT).
Al-Gharbali stated that Kuwait hopes the nuclear agreement would encourage Iran to sign the convention on nuclear safety and to benefit from the expertise of the IAEA to enhance the safety of its nuclear facilities that overlook the Arabian Gulf.
Meanwhile, the Kuwaiti diplomat urged the IAEA and the international community to press Israel to sign the NPT and to allow inspection of its nuclear facilities by international teams.
She pointed out that Kuwait has recently donated USD three million to the IAEA: USD 1.5 million to support the IAEA initiatives for the peaceful use of nuclear energy, USD one million to ReNual Project for renewing the agency's eight Nuclear Applications Laboratories in Seibersdorf, Austria, and USD 500,000 for Monaco Lab.
Kuwait has also donated USD 10 million to the international low-enriched uranium bank, she disclosed.
