Jordan participates in Arab economic conference in Algeria


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Jordan took part in the first Conference of Arab Association of Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions that was recently held in Algeria.

President of the Jordanian Economic and Social Council (ESC), Munther Al-Shara, who participated in the meeting, highlighted the importance of establishing such association, stressing Jordan's absolute belief of social dialogue both internally and at the Arab level.

Al-Shara also called on the Arab countries for concerted efforts especially in the current situation to support the establishment of economic and social councils in various Arab states.

During the conference, which brought together delegations from Jordan, Algeria, Morocco, Lebanon, Mauritania, Palestine, Egypt, Sudan and Yemen, participants agreed on the agenda of the association for 2016-2018.

The agenda focuses on a number of projects, mainly encouraging all Arab countries to establish economic and social councils .

On the sidelines of the conference, which was attended by Jordan's Ambassador to Algeria, Ahmad Jaradat, Jordan's council signed a bilateral memorandum of understanding with its Algerian counterpart to improve ways of cooperation between the two sides.
