US-GCC joint working group meets in Riyadh




(MENAFN - Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The US-GCC joint working group discussed Tuesday in a meeting key issues and files of mutual interest as well as means of promoting cooperation.
The two sides focused on efforts of achieving peace and maintaining security, and enhancing stability in the region, said a statement of the GCC Secretariat.
They dealt with Iran's interference in the internal affairs of the GCC countries and its support for "terrorist and extremist" organizations as well as outcomes of implementing the nuclear agreement reached between Iran and the world powers last July.
On his part, GCC Assistant Secretary General for Negotiations and Strategic Dialogue Dr. Abdulaziz Aluwaisheg said that the joint working group is tasked with strategic partnership between the GCC and the United States, adding the GCC leaders and US President Barack Obama announced the formation of the group during their meeting in Camp David on 14 May.
