Al Jubeir Hammond answer reporters39 questions 2 Riyadh

(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) Regarding the meetings about Syria in Vienna Al-Jubeir stressed that the goal is to intensify consensus on the solution in Syrian and find a political solution that ensures the departure of Assad and ensures the preservation of the unity of Syria and its territorial integrity and urgency in reconstruction and the transfer of Syria to a better future stressing that the Kingdom will not be a party to open talks that continue over a long period and that do not lead to any success. If we find that progress is not possible we will not participate in future talks. This is I think is the consensus among the nations supporting the Syrian moderate opposition. I do not know if anyone can solve a crisis such as the Syria crisis in one session. I do not expect that this is possible but I think that if there is a sense that progress is possible responsibility imposes continuation in the talks.

On Saudi citizens' cases in Britain Al-Jubeir explained that the judiciary is independent in the kingdom and enjoys sovereignty and does not interfere in the judiciary of other states as it doesn't accept interfere by any state in its judiciary and discusses matters that concern Saudi citizens abroad directly through embassies or through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs .

In regard to the issue of Saudi scholarship student Nahed Almanea' Jubeir said "The Saudi embassy in Britain is following this issue. We are follow the procedures with the British government through the embassy. The issue of the Englishman Andre in the kingdom ended under the Saudi judiciary and public prosecution in the Kingdom which decided that mentioned ended his sentence two months ago and procedures for his deportation from the kingdom have been taken and the sentence was issued under the justice system in the kingdom."

Al-Jubeir stressed that Iran is the axis of evil and a state sponsor of terrorism. This is the view of the kingdom as this is the view of numerous resolutions issued by the Security Council at the United Nations noting that Iran is subject to sanctions by many countries because of its support for terrorism. It has forces on Arab lands and also occupies Arab territories in Syria and the UAE Islands and has troops in Iraq and has personnel in Yemen. If they refuse a Syrian peaceful solution based on the departure of Assad and don't stop what they are doing in Syria then this means that the issue will be long and more complex and ultimately the brotherly Syrian people will win.

For his part the British Foreign Secretary said "We both respect the judicial system of other countries. all countries of the world including Britain and the kingdom have the right to intervene when their citizens have cases in other countries and this is routine. We intervened to ask about Andre who has completed his sentence and we discussed facilitating his release from prison and his return to Britain at the completion of the sentence imposed by a Saudi court."

On Iranian interference in the affairs of its neighboring countries the British Foreign Secretary stressed that Iran is interfering in its neighbors and has forces that are committing terrorist acts. We have made it clear to the United Nations. France and Germany have made it clear and Iran will continue to be held accountable for its behavior in the region expecting it will stop its behavior that violates the rules of the international community.

The British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond said "The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Iran are the most important and most powerful two states in this region and in the long term it is essential for these two countries to be able to talk to each other and discuss the differences and be able to reach solutions peacefully to the differences that may arise between them. There are huge tensions and huge differences but in the long term it is in the interest of everyone if possible that there will be dialogue between the kingdom and Iran."

For his part Al-Jubeir stressed the strength of relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Britain and that Iran is an Islamic and neighboring country with which the kingdom wants better relations but aggressive policies did not come from the kingdom but came from Iran. He hoped that one day Iran will respond positively to Saudi good will initiatives. He stated that it is not in the interest of anyone in the region to have tension in it and it is up to Iran and its actions hoping that Iran will respond to the initiatives as the kingdom will be forced to protect its interests and those of its allies and above all the interests of its people if Iran doesn't respond.
