(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Under the patronage of Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Ministry of Transport will host Qatar Transport Forum 2015 at Sheraton Doha from September 15 to 16.
It will highlight plans, initiatives and projects such as Hamad Port, Civil Aviation Authority, Qatar Ports, Karwa, Civil Aviation College and Qatar Rail.
Organised by MEED, the forum will provide a platform for the ministry for open dialogue with local investors on establishing processing, manufacturing and logistics industries in Qatar to meet the needs of regional and international markets.
The forum will also be an opportunity for local, regional, and international businesses, project managers, technology providers and industry experts to display expertise and learn about investment opportunities in the transport sector.
Key topics include forecasts, project updates and measures by of the transport sector such as how the ministry plans to streamline and integrate transport.
The forum will address investment opportunities and development projects such as Doha Metro, Hamad Port Project, Hamad International Airport, Bus Operation Plan, Water Taxis, highways, vehicle assembly factories, truck warehouses, parking, cruise ships docks and the ministry's commitments in the lead-up to hosting FIFA 2022 World Cup.
It will highlight industries being set up to supply parts and components required by the transport sector, public-private partnership opportunities, national road safety strategy, smart transport systems and 'Transport and the Environment'.
The ministry and MEED are engaging with ministries and government agencies, including Public Works Authority (Ashghal), Civil Aviation Authority, Mowasalat (Karwa), Hamad Port Project, Qatar Rail, Qatar Gas Transport Company (Nakilat), Qatar Navigation Company (Milaha), Economic Zones Company (Manateq), United Arab Shipping Company (UASC), transport operators, automotive dealers, investment banks and Qatar Chamber of Commerce.
International investors include regional agents and manufacturing and supply companies in the transport sector, including industries such as car windshield, tyres, seats, upholstery, engines, transmission, pumps, electrical parts, wiring, indicators and lights, painting, trailers, car structures, plastics and car and cruise ships.
The ministry aims to showcase international transport systems adopted by Qatar while encouraging local industries to transform Qatar into a regional commercial hub.
