Syria- Opposition forces shutdown chopper in Homs

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Syrian opposition forces shot down a regime helicopter over Homs countryside, killing three crew members, Syria Mubasher news agency said Thursday.

The agency said that the chopper fell in north-eastern of Amri hill, noting that fire was seen burning until the plane hit the ground and exploded.

It quoted sources in the area as saying that several explosions occurred after the crash due to barrels explosives the plane was carrying to the cities and towns of Homs.

The sources added that opposition forces operating in the region shot down the helicopter by a heat-missile.

Meanwhile, regime media reports denied the plane crash due to targeted missile, and attributed the incident to a technical failure in the chopper. (end)
