Ministry of Economy and Commerce inspectors in co-operation with those of the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning have conducted various surprise inspection tours on various outlets throughout the country.
They spotted eight violations for meat shops at Doha Muaither and Al Rayyan which included false labelling of the country of origin and not abiding by the set price tags.
At the Friday and Thursday Market on Salwa Road they spotted 18 different violations including counterfeit items such as mobile phones and cosmetics and not posting tag prices.
Six mobile phone shops at Al Gharraf and Barwa Commercial Street were issued violations for selling refurbished handsets as if new.
A total of ten violations were issued for tyre shops at Salwa Road for selling non-standard tyres.
Such inspection tours will continue in different parts of the country to enforce better consumer protection and guarantee the compliance of commercial outlets.
