Indian Defence Minister to inaugurate MSME defence meet in New Delhi


(MENAFN- KNN India) Continuing to push Make-in-India, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar will inaugurate the seminar on Opportunities for MSMEs in the Defence Sector here on June 11, 2015.

Government is giving the final shape to defence production policy including the role MSMEs are likely to play. The inputs of the seminar will help shape the policy.

Member NITI Aayog and former Secretary of Defence (Research & Development), VK Saraswat and Director General of Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) will also address the participants as the Guest of honour.

The seminar, being organized by Federation of Indian Micro and Small & Medium Enterprises (FISME) - a network of over 700 SME associations in the country, is bringing Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs), MSMEs and policy makers at one platform.

FISME with its knowledge partner Koan Advisory is to release a working paper on expectations of MSMEs from defence production and procurement policies including offsets.

The seminar is to two sessions one focusing policies and the other opportunities. The later session will be chaired by renowned defence strategist Air Marshal BN Gokhle and presentations are to be made by top officials from OEMs such as Lockheed Martin, Honeywell among others. (KNN/AB)
