Palestine calls for protecting refugees in Syria's Yarmouk camp

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Palestinian National Council (PNC) called Friday for halting military acts inside Yarmouk refugee camp in Damascus and protecting Palestinian refugees from dragging them into the current conflict in Syria.

In a statement from its headquarters in Amman, the PNC underlined the need to put an end to the suffering of refugees in the camp and to protect them from "terrorist organizations." The council urged Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) to intensify its efforts and increase contacts to halt infighting inside the camp so as to defend its Palestinians.

The council called on Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the UN and international human rights organizations to intervene immediately to protect refugees and lift blockage.

It also called for opening passages to deliver humanitarian aid to refugees who have a "real disaster''.
