For 2015 BMI maintains its cautious outlook on Chile's freight transport sector and the economy as a whole largely on the back of the sl owdown in Chinese growth and that country's demand for copper. D eteriorating investor sentiment and an ongoing slowdown in private consumption will also affect Chile's outlook for 2015 although stronger government consumption should help support growth.

Considerable investment in the expansion of Chile's ports supports our positive outlook for ports infrastructure and the wider construction industry. In the near term we expect the port of San Antonio now the country's largest port to continue to outperform the port of Valparaiso. The former is expected to continue its solid pace of growth registering growth in container throughput of almost 10% between 2015 and 2019.

We also maintain our positive outlook for Chile's construction industry on the back of an investor-friendly business environment political stability and a strong pipeline of projects. This should bode well for the freight infrastructure developments in the pipeline across Chile.

A stable political outlook and sound economic fundamentals position Chile for steady albeit slower economic progress underpinning our view that the country will have achieved developed state status by 2023.
