Arab MPs reiterate support for Palestine's UN body membership bids

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Arab Parliament has reaffirmed backing for Palestinian efforts to join more international organizations and conventions, including the International Criminal Court (ICC).

The parliament said in a final communiquØ£© following the third session of its first legislative term held here on Tuesday it supports the Palestinian leadership's bid to gain the membership of UN agencies in general and the ICC in particular so as to be able to bring Israeli war criminals to accountability and to protect the Palestinian people.

It called on the international community to impose sanctions on Israel due to its settlement and mass punishment policy, not to mention the demolition of Palestinian houses.

But, it urged all Palestinian groups and factions to get united by means of abiding by the "reconciliation agreement" with a view to be able to fulfill the expectations and hopes of the Palestinian people in view of freedom and independence.

Meanwhile, the Arab Parliament strongly condemned the recent killing of 21 Egyptians by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in Libya as a "heinous crime".

It also offered heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Egypt and families of the victims.

The parliament called on the international community to take effective measures against "terrorist" groups and those who provide them with financial and logistical sources.

It emphasized that such "terrorist" groups fail to respect the simplest principles and rules of humanity and religions, and violate the tolerant religion of Islam.
