Qatar Charity launches Build Palestine Campaign


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Qatar Charity has launched its 'Build Palestine' campaign to help develop Palestine through projects worth over QR197m.

The project will be carried out under the slogan "Hand in hand to build Palestine" and will involve the financing and implementation of large development projects for the benefit of 1,147,000 people.

The projects will include shelter, education, health and economic empowerment across Palestine, Jerusalem and its suburbs, the Gaza Strip and West Bank, in addition to refugee camps in Lebanon and Jordan.

In the field of housing, QC will provide monthly rents for 1000 families comprising 7,000 people, whose houses were demolished during the recent aggression on Gaza, at a cost of QR12m. A hundred homes will also be built for homeless families at a cost of QR11m and 100 homes will be renovated at a total cost of QR2,700,000.

Refugees in camps in Jordan and Lebanon will also benefit from projects worth QR1.465m, spent on providing furniture for 1,000 families at a cost of QR14m, as well as kitchen supplies for 4000 people at a cost of QAR6.6m for the benefit of 28,000 people. The total cost for housing projects is QR48.165m benefiting around 49,000 people.

In the field of health, QC seeks to rehabilitate and maintain 10 health centres at a total cost of QR1.2m, for the benefit of 100,000 people. It will also provide 30 medical devices to 20 health centres at a cost of QR3.3m, benefiting 60,000 people, and contribute to provide artificial limbs for 100 people with disabilities at a cost of QR2.4m, and provide 500 wheelchairs worth QR 1,000,000.

In the field of education QC will implement a number of projects at a total cost of QR 34,504,000 for the benefit of 120,000 people.

In the field of reconstruction and rehabilitation QC seeks to implement projects at a total cost of QR 21.5m for the benefit of 447,500 people, including drilling 10 wells for drinking water at a cost of QR4.4m for the benefit of 100,000 people, rehabilitation of sewage pumps worth QR5.5m for the benefit of 200,000 people and the creation of reservoirs for drinking water at a cost of QR3.6m benefiting 100,000 people.

In the context of economic empowerment, projects will be implemented at a cost of QR24.3m, benefiting 43,000 people. QR11m will be spent on economic empowerment projects, including 2200 small projects, benefitting 11,000 people, providing job opportunities for 4,000 workers to carry out public services for institutions for a month at a total cost of QR4.8m, in addition to establishing cattle and chicken farms and rehabilitation of agricultural land.
