Zambia annual copper production to hit 900,000 tons


(MENAFN) The government in Zambia said that it expects annual copper production to increase this year, Xinhua reported



The government forecasts that annual copper production will increase from 763,000 tons to 900,000 tons in 2014



The country's Minister of Mines, Energy and Water Development said that the expected increase is due to expansion projects by major mining companies in the last two years



He said: "In terms of annual copper production, the country is on course to reach the 1,500,000 tons target by 2016 and this year copper output will be more than 900,000.
