Cambodia's microfinance lending up 44 percent in 2013


(MENAFN) A report by the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) said that loan disbursements by the country's 38 microfinance institutions soared 44 percent last year, Xinhua reported



The report said that the institutions had lent USD1.17 billion in total last year, increasing from USD813 million in 2012



Customers had deposited 61 percent more at the microfinance institutions during the 2013, increasing from USD226 million in 2012 to USD364 million



NBC's Governor said: "Microfinance institutions have continued developing rapidly. Currently, the micro-lenders have been serving about 2.4 million customers.
