Kuwait- Sentence reduced


(MENAFN- Arab Times) The Appeals Court recently amended the verdict of the Court of First Instance and sentenced the brother of a former MP to one year imprisonment. The lower court had earlier sentenced the man to two years imprisonment with hard labor and fined him KD 2,000 for religious contempt. Case papers show on April 9, 2012, the accused had published on his social networking account Twitter blasphemy about Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Islam that led to chaos in the country. In addition, the Court of First Instance sentenced him to 2 years of imprisonment with hard labors and immediate execution, as well as it fined him to pay KD 2,000.
