The 4th Annual World Takaful Conference
The 4th Annual World Takaful Conference 2009 is again being hosted in strategic partnership with DIFC (Dubai International Financial Centre). With huge growth in the Islamic insurance industry and the increasing interest of conventional insurance players and major banks in the sector, the 4th Annual Conference promises to be even more influential in charting the future direction of the industry.
The Takaful market has been slower to develop than many predicted, and has lagged behind the more explosive growth witnessed by Islamic banking and finance generally. Notwithstanding the global economic turmoil, experts continue to predict major growth opportunities for Takaful operators and point the way to an Islamic insurance market that is underpinned by positive fundamental factors that could propel Takaful, according to McKinsey’s research for the WIBC Competitiveness Report 08/09, to become an $11 billion industry by 2012.
The World Takaful Conference (WTC 2009), which builds on 4 years of successfully meeting industry needs, will again set the stage for industry leaders to chart the future direction of the market, showcase cutting edge innovations, and also address the key enablers that will boost growth in the international Takaful market. WTC 2009 is set to continue its status as the pre-eminent meeting place for international Takaful and Insurance Operators, Re-Takaful and Re-Insurance players, Captive insurance firms, and leading legal and advisory firms.
The more than 300 participants at last year’s conference agreed that there was significant untapped potential for the development of the Islamic insurance industry. The 4th Annual World Takaful Conference will refocus on how industry players can translate this potential into accelerated growth, under the conference theme of Boosting Growth in a Challenging Market.<
