Doha Bank donates to Special Needs cause


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Doha Bank recently made a donation to the Qatar Society for Rehabilitation of Special Needs, a local humanitarian organisation that aims to support and develop the skills and capabilities of people with disabilities. Ahmed al-Henzab, head of Administration & Properties at Doha Bank, handed over the donation to Taleb Abdullah Afifa, board member of the Qatar Society for Rehabilitation of Special Needs.
The donation will be used to purchase medical equipment for the local establishment, Doha Bank has said in a statement.
'As part of our extensive corporate social responsibility programme, Doha Bank has been supporting targeted social programmes for different communities in the country. We envision building a world that provides equal opportunities for all, and developing and nurturing skills and capabilities of differently-abled people is a major step towards achieving the goal. We are very proud to support and work closely with the Qatar Society for Rehabilitation of Special Needs to promote non-discrimination and inclusive growth, al-Henzab said.
Afifa lauded Doha Bank for its financial support and described the donation as 'a unique initiative on the part of the bank's management in line with its corporate social responsibilities, making it a model for other institutions, banks and companies in support of the groups that need community care such as people with disabilities.
He also wished that the fruitful co-operation between the association and Doha Bank would continue 'in the best interest of disabled people, with a view to achieving the goals of the association, which seek to rehabilitate, empower and integrate people with disabilities into society, thus providing them with decent prospects in life. Doha Bank's corporate social responsibility initiatives to champion social and environmental causes have been constantly recognised by the industry leaders.
Most recently, the bank was awarded the ‘Golden Peacock Award for Sustainability in the Financial Sector 2017' presented by the Institute of Directors —India at a ceremony in London.
