Kuwait- FlyDubai seals record USD 26 bln deal for Boeing aircrafts


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) DUBAI, Nov 15 (KUNA) -- State-owned low cost airline FlyDubai has completed the purchase of 225 Boeing 737 Max aircrafts at a cost of USD 26 billion, the largest ever single-aisle jet order Boeing has recieved from the Middle East.

The deal is the "biggest of its kind in terms of cost and quantity of aircrafts in the history of the region," read a statement by the world's largest aerospace company.

Addressing reporters after the deal was sealed, FlyDubai's Chairman Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum pointed out that Boeing 737 aircrafts will be instrumental in allowing the airline to expand its itineraries.

Meanwhile, the executive vice president of Boeing Kevin McAllister noted that FlyDubai boasts an all-Boeing fleet of aircrafts, saying the "record-breaking deal" was a testament to the trusted partnership between the two companies.

As per the agreement, FlyDubai is set to receive 50 737 Max 10 aircrafts, the latest in the Boeing series.

Boeing's 737 Max aircrafts is the fastest-selling fleet in the history of the company, with more than 4,000 orders placed by 92 airlines around the world. (end) smr.nam
