Qatar- Katara to launch 3rd Al Habbal competition

The Cultural Village Foundation-Katara is set to launch tomorrow the third edition of Al Habbal competition which highlights the ancient Qatari tradition of bird hunting.
The competition from 2pm to 5pm tomorrow and on Saturday at Arkiyah area.
The contest is purely devoted for Qatari and expatriate children 10 to 15 years old. In its third edition, the competition attracted 50 participants, which were divided into 10 teams.
Katara is keen to arrange this heritage competition on its usual annual date, which tends to coincide with the migratory birds' arrival season to Qatar, flying to the country to search for warm weather.
This contest plays a significant role in presenting the most important elements associated with the environment and wildlife heritage to children while instilling this heritage in them.
Ali Youssef Al-Kuwari, chairman of the organizing committee, said the winning teams will be announced during a special festive awarding ceremony which will be held at Katara. The first place winner will be awarded QR20,000 while the second place will receive QR15,000 and third place will take home QR10,000.
