Palestinians call on Britain to apologize for Balfour Declaration

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RAMALLAH, Nov 2 (KUNA) -- Palestinians on Thursday demanded an apology from the UK after a century from creating the Balfour Declaration, which deprived the Palestinians of their lands and resulted in many other acts of injustice to them.

Palestinians rallied in the West Bank, Jerusalem, and in many other areas, in which they were demanding a full recognition to their rights and to Palestine as an independent state within the 1967 borders.

Speaking to KUNA, Fatah Party's Deputy Leader, Mahmoud Al-Aloul, condemned the UK government's plans to commemorate the memory of this act, stating that it would be unreasonable from them to go through with this celebration.

He added that the declaration is the reason of the Palestinians suffering after it formed a Jewish state in Palestine, where many crimes were committed under the so-called state of Israel.

On his part, Essam Abo Doka -- a member of the democratic front -- stressed that the Balfour tragedy was the main reason that the Palestinians are still suffering through the existence of the so-called nation Israel.

He strongly denied this declaration, naming it as an "illegal, immoral, and illegitimate", adding that the British government should recognize the state of Palestine, in addition to placing pressure on Israel to stop its crimes against the Palestinian people.

The Balfour Declaration was announced in 1917, which formed "a national home for the Jewish people" in Palestine. Some 12 million Palestinian people have been suffering due to Israeli unjust act since the declaration was formed. (end) nk.wab.mys
