Pakistan- Government increases petroleum prices


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR, 1 November: The federal government on Tuesday approved increase in the prices of petroleum products.

According to new rates, petrol price has been increased to Rs75.99 per litre with an increase of Rs2.49, while diesel price has been increased by Rs5.19 per litre to Rs84.59. Price of kerosene oil has also been increased by Rs5 per litre to Rs53.19.

Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) had sent the summary of increase in petroleum prices to the federal government. The Petroleum Ministry after consultation with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi approved the increase in prices.

The people of Peshawar have expressed concern over continuously increasing prices of petroleum products.

'They are increasing petroleum prices every month due to which the workers and traders are suffering a lot. Traders are already confronted with unfavourable conditions, and now the regular increase in petroleum prices is further affecting them,' a citizen told TNN.

Another citizen said steps like this will further increase poverty ratio and reduce the purchasing power of people.
