Qatar's NHRC organizes exhibition about human rights in Islam in Madrid

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) MADRID, Oct 20 (KUNA) -- The National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) in Qatar inaugurated Friday an Arabic calligraphy exhibition about "Human Rights in Islamic Culture" in the Spanish capital of Madrid.

In a statement to KUNA on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony, Chairman of the Qatar's National Human Rights National Committee Ali Al-Marri stated that the exhibition conveys a message to the world about the shared human values and builds bridges of dialogue among followers of different faiths.

"In this message, the organizers do not want to talk about or defend Islam but rather to promote the common values," he told KUNA.

He added that the two-day event features 20 paintings of Quranic verses and prophetic sayings, directly related to international conventions on human rights.

The inaugurating ceremony was attended by Qatar's Ambassador in Madrid Mohamed Al-Kuwari, Casa Arabe's Director Pedro Martinez-Avial, and several Arab ambassadors including Kuwait's Ambassador to Madrid Suleiman Al-Harbi. (end) hnd.ibi
