Boeing: Bombardier CSeries jets might experience heavy duties

(MENAFN) Boeing Co said that high US import duties may still hit Bombardier Inc's CSeries jets, even though they are assembled in Alabama through a deal with Airbus.

The deal grants Airbus the bigger share in Bombardier's CSeries jets, protecting the future of the planes and giving the company a way out of its harmful trade dispute with Boeing.

General Counsel of Boeing stated: "Any duties finally levied against the C-Series... will have to be paid on any imported C-Series airplane or part, or it will not be permitted into the country."

US international trade lawyer said the strategy Bombardier uses of carrying out final assembly in Alabama, might permit the CSeries to skip duties because the case only targets partially and fully assembled planes.
