Jordan- Muslim graves vandalized at Lausanne cemetery

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Oct.17 (Petra) -- Muslim graves in a cemetery in the Swiss city of Lausanne have been vandalized, local police said, adding that fifteen out of 22 Muslim graves had Islamophobic slogans written on them over the weekend.

A specific section of the Bois-de-Vaux cemetery in the French-speaking city has been reserved for Muslims since 2016, a decision that has caused a lot of controversy. Flowers and plants on the graves were removed and wooden grave markers pulled out at the Bois-de-Vaux cemetery, Lausanne police confirmed in a statement, saying they were alerted to the damage on Saturday.

The city of Lausanne will lodge a criminal complaint against those responsible, said the police statement, adding that the commune "strongly condemns this unacceptable act of vandalism".
