UK: Man held after incident involving car, pedestrians

LONDON: A man was detained following an incident involving a car and pedestrians in central London Saturday, according to police.

London Metropolitan Police said a "collision" caused several injuries, amid local reports that a car ploughed into a group of people near the Natural History Museum.

"Police were called at 1421 on Saturday, 7 October to reports of a collision in Exhibition Road, South Kensington," a statement by Scotland Yard said.

"It is believed that a number of pedestrians have been injured," it said.

Police officers and ambulance services rushed towards the scene, according to the same statement and "a man has been arrested at the scene."

"Enquiries to establish the circumstances and motive are underway," it said.
