Council of the Arabic Tongue inaugurates in Mauritania

NOUAKCHOTT, 7th October 2017 (WAM) - Following the directives of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, the Mauritanian capital Nouakchott celebrated the inauguration ceremony of the Council of Arabic Tongue (Majlis Al Lisan Al Arabi).

The aim of the Council is to preserve the Arabic Language in North West of Africa.

The Council was established by donation from His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, to promote the efforts of the Arabic language, and to use the language of the Holy Quran in various media, educational and cultural platforms.

His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah has directed the Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah to support and establish the Council of Arabic Tongue to be an educational and scientific academy incubator of elite of Mauritanian Arabic language scholars.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Mohamed El Amine Weld Al Sheikh , Minister of Culture and Speaker for the Mauritanian Government, Sidi Weld Sidi Salem, Minister of Higher Education, Issa Abdellah Massoud Al Kalbani, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Mauritania, and Dr Hassan El Shafei Chairman of Arabic Language and Science Academy Union , Dr. Abdulhamid Madkour , Secretary General of the Union, Dr. Amhamed Safi Mostaghanmi, Secretary General of the Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah, and a large number of Arabic linguists, researchers and academics from inside and outside Mauritania.

Dr. Mostaghanmi, delivered a speech on behalf of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, in his speech he said that His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah is keen to preserve the Arabic Language and to see the using of it in all the activities of the life.

He added that His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah is congratulating the Mauritanian government and people on this important cultural linguistic structure, in which a group of scientists, linguists and academics will join it in order to preserve the Arabic language, and to use it in all fields of the life.

The Prime Minister of Mauritania, Yahya weld Haddmain , praised the role played by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, in supporting Arabic language and Culture. He affirmed that His Highness initiatives reflect a strategic and deep vision in the field of preventing the Arabic language.

Dr. Hassan Al-Shafei praised the role of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah in supporting the academic of the Arabic Language.
