Jordan- Army foils suspected drug smuggling attempt


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Oct.4 (Petra)- The Northern Military Zone, in coordination with the Anti-Narcotic Department and the Military Security Department, late Tuesday foiled an alleged smuggling attempt by 8 people to infiltrate the country from Syria, a Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army official early Wednesday said .

The military source explained that rules of engagement were applied, where two of the suspects were injured during the operation, while all of them fled back into Syria.

After searching the area, security personnel found four bags containing168 palm- sized sheets of hashish, around 12,000 Tramadol pills and 550,000 Captagon pills. The seized items were referred to the concerned authorities for further investigation, the source said.
