Qatar- Contaminated agricultural products destroyed

(MENAFN- Gulf Times)

The Ministry of Municipality and Environment's (MME) Agriculture Quarantine Offices inspected 8,071 agricultural consignments weighing more than 93,492 tonnes of various imported agricultural products during September.
These included plants, products and materials necessary for agricultural production, which entered the country through various customs clearance entry points.
Accordingly, a collection of 114 consignments weighing more than 38 tonnes were destroyed due to being infected with various bugs.
Agricultural quarantine is considered the first line of defence and protection against agricultural bugs and helps maintain the plant wealth of the country, as the standard regulations permit only the entry of safe products and ban any products that prove to be infected or non-compliant with the approved standards.
