Hamas reiterates eagerness on achieving Palestinian reconciliation

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) GAZA, Sept 30 (KUNA) -- Head of Hamas politburo Ismail Haniya on Saturday reaffirmed the movement's keenness on achieving Palestinian reconciliation to counter future challenges.

"We reiterate our keenness on promoting real sphere for reconciliation" and moving on from the status quo, overburdened by bitterness of division, to a different reality, Haniya said in a message to the Palestinian people.

Hamas is looking forward to reconciliation in the West Bank as much as in the Gaza Strip, end of grievances, settlement all files, restoring political life and freedoms, respect of pluralism, institutional work and job security for Palestinians in both regions, he said.

The Hamas chief stressed the need for concluding a state of "national situation" that could help discuss the conditions of the Palestinian people, both at home and abroad, as well as the challenges and the risks facing them, especially in the refugees' camps, besides cooperation among factions to protect the Palestinians' rights, especially the right of return he added.

Hamas leadership has taken the decision to dismantle the administrative committee in the Strip and allowed the Palestinian government to enter Gaza as part of an integrated vision and careful reading of developments on the Palestinian scene and the region at large. It also aims to abort the Israeli project that seeks to "swallow the West Bank and besiege Gaza," he stressed.

The Palestinian National Consensus Government is due in Gaza on Monday to hold its weekly meeting, in line with understandings concluded between Hamas and Fatah.

The move aims to enable the government to manage the Strip ahead of any negotiations on consequences of the 2007 division. (end) wab.ams.msa
