Top Saudi aid official to discuss humanitarian aid priorities

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) By Nawab Khan BRUSSELS, Sept 26 (KUNA) -- Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, General Supervisor of King Salman Aid Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, is in the Belgian capital to build relations and cooperation with the EU's humanitarian aid office, ECHO.

Speaking to KUNA, on the sidelines of a reception to celebrate Saudi National Day Monday night, Al-Rabeeah said he will also inform the European Parliament as well as EU and Belgian officials about Saudi Arabia's contribution to humanitarian aid globally and in particular in Yemen, Syria and Iraq.

"Saudi Arabia is in the frontline when it comes to providing aid to Yemen, Syria and Iraq. Our centre is present in all regions in Yemen, whether they are north or South.

We do not differentiate between and cities in Yemen. Our aim is to help Yemenis in need," he noted.

He said that the King Salman Relief Centre "is a relatively new organization established in 2015 but we are expanding very rapidly." Al-Rabeeah is also special advisor to the Royal Court and a former Minister of Health of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Since its establishment in 2015, KSRC has mobilized USD 762 million of humanitarian and relief funds globally.

During his 3-day visit to Brussels which began on Monday he will meet a number of EU , Belgian, UN officials as well as Members of the European Parliament to discuss the most important achievements and challenges being faced in Middle East and share his perspective on most urgent humanitarian aid priorities to be tackled.
