Oman- Dar al Atta'a to collect and distribute food items on World Food Day


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Dar al Atta'a is preparing to commemorate World Food Day in cooperation with schools, companies, and volunteers by collecting foodstuffs. According to a press release, the collected items will be distributed on October 16, which is celebrated across the world as World Food Day.

The day has been declared by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations and is celebrated on a large scale by many organisations associated with food security, in addition to World Food Programme.

May al Bayat, head of marketing department, Dar al Atta'a said, 'The organisation celebrates this day with an aim to raise awareness among community members, and highlight the suffering of many poor and hungry families from around the world. The day is celebrated by more than 150 countries every year.'

She added, 'In Dar al Atta'a we get the community members and organisations to work with us to collect maximum amount of food items and to distribute them to those who deserve.' Food items can be donated at the Dar al Atta'a outlet in Ruwi and headquarters in Bausher till October 10.
