(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) MOSCOW, Sept 19 (KUNA) -- Hamas deputy chief Moussa Abu Marzouk on Tuesday held talks with the Russian officials during his current to Moscow.
The talks Abu Marzouk held at the Russian foreign ministry showed "huge matching" between the two sides views on the topics they discussed, he told a press conference.
The Moscow talks focused on various issues related to the developments in the Middle East, he said, referring to the hard conditions of the Palestinian people in the West Bank, Jerusalem and Gaza as a result of the Israeli practices against them.
They also touched upon the efforts seeking to realize Palestinian reconciliation, Abu Marzouk added, noting that Russian has links with all the Palestinian factions and can play a role for achieving unity among them.
In addition, the two sides discussed the possibility of providing humanitarian aid to the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
Meanwhile, the Hamas senior official said that the movement had launched an initiative to dismantle the Supreme Administration Commission in Gaza, besides other measures to remove all obstacles to the Palestinian reconciliation.
Hamas is awaiting for a response from Fatah and tangible steps from the Palestinian Authority abolishing all the measures taken against the Strip, he said.
Such initiative is likely to support Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at the UN General Assembly when he speaks on behalf of all Palestinians, he stressed.
In the meantime, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Moscow has always called for unity among the Palestinians, on basis of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) and the Arab Peace Initiative, as a condition for realizing the legitimate right of the Palestinian people, namely establishing an independent state in line with the principles of the international law.
The statement expressed Moscow's relief over Hamas declaration of the reconciliation as a step on the right path. (end) as.amm.msa
