(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Nepal's embassy in Qatar yesterday organised a programme to mark the country's Constitution Day. The event, which lasted from 8:30am to 11am, was attended by Nepali entrepreneurs, community leaders, journalists and the embassy staff members.
The programme started with a one-minute silence to remember the martyrs of the country. Ambassador Prof Ramesh Prasad Koirala inaugurated the programme by lighting candles. During his speech, Ambassador Koirala thanked Qatar for hosting more than 450,000 Nepalis in Qatar and extended his best wishes to all Nepalis on the occasion of Constitution Day. The constitution, he said, is helping with peace and stability in the country and will eventually help Nepal attain economic prosperity.
The statute of the country was promulgated in 2015 after being endorsed by 507 out of 598 members of Constitution Assembly. The constitution has 35 parts, 305 articles and nine annexes. According to a government decision, Nepal will from now on observe Asoj 3 (September 19) as its National Day as well as the Constitution Day to commemorate the promulgation of the Nepal Constitution.
