UAE pledges more support to Syrian refugees
(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) New York, Sept 19 (Petra) –– United Arab Emirates ambassador to the United Nations Obaid Al-Zaabi said Tuesday that a political solution is the only viable option to end the conflict in Syria, pledging continued UAE support of Syrian refugees.
Addressing the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, the envoy said his country would welcome all constructive efforts to bring the Syrian regime and the opposition to sit at the negotiating table to ward off all attempts by extremist groups and thwart their terrorist designs in the region.
He said the UAE will pursue its humanitarian response to the Syrian refugee crisis, noting that the Emirates had pledged $68 million at the Brussels international conference in April for that purpose..
