(MENAFN) Dubai Metro, covering the Red and Green lines, had posted new records as the ridership of the metro has broken the 1bn rider barrier.
Since the launch of the service, the metro has lifted 1.028bn riders; 689mn riders lifted by the Red Line and 339mn riders served by the Green Line.
Accordingly, the Dubai Metro, which extends 75km, has an array of features that give it a special standing worldwide.
Meanwhile, the number of metro riders has increased by 54 percent from 38.887mn riders in 2010 to 60mn riders in 2011.
