Three militants killed in Kashmir encounters
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) NEW DELHI, Sept 4 (KUNA) -- Two Hizbul Mujahideen militants were killed on Monday in an exchange of fire with security forces in Sopore city in Baramulla district situated in the north Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, Indian Police sources said.
Quoting local police sources, the Press Trust of India said that the Indian forces launched a cordon and search operation after receiving specific intelligence inputs about militants hiding in Check-e-Brath area of Sopore.
During the operation, the militants fired upon the security forces, triggering an intense exchange of fire which resulted in killing of the two militants.
In another incident, Indian Border Security Forces gunned down an infiltrator while trying to enter Indian territories at the Indo-Pak International Border at Arnia sector of Jammu.
Reports said that inter-mitten shots were heard as the Indian forces retaliated to the firing from the Pakistan side.
New Delhi accuses Islamabad of supporting and funding the armed groups in Kashmir, claims which Islamabad denies and insists Kashmir people are defending their freedom. (end) atk.mt
