Lebanese army deployed along Syrian borders after IS withdrawal


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BEIRUT, Aug 29 (KUNA) -- The Lebanese Army said on Tuesday that a number of its units have been deployed in areas that the so-called Islamic State (IS) withdrew from along the borders with Syria.

Army units are patrolling the area and its surroundings, searching for any explosives or mines that IS could have left behind, Lebanon's military said in a statement.

IS militants withdrew from the last area they controlled in Lebanon on Monday along the borders with Syria, following an agreement made with Hezbollah. (end) wsm.mys
