Mideast carriers post slowdown in passenger growth

(MENAFN) Middle Eastern carriers recorded 2.5 percent growth in traffic in June, which showed a slowdown from the subdued 3.7 percent increase in May.

However, passenger traffic between the MENA region was already slowing in early 2017, in line with a moderation in the pace of increase of the largest carriers in the area.

Accordingly, global passenger traffic data for June showed that need increased by 7.8 percent, compared with 2016.

Through the Jan-June period of this year, the industry experienced a 12-year high in traffic growth at 7.9 percent and a record first half load factor of 80.7 percent.
