Lebanese army destroys IS sites near eastern Syrian borders

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BEIRUT, Aug 3 (KUNA) -- The Lebanese army targets with artillery the positions of the so-called Islamic State (IS) terrorists group in the outskirts of Ras Baalbek and Qaa, a Lebanese source told KUNA on Thursday.

The source added the army shelling resulted in destroying IS centers used for storing and digging, including injuries to many IS fighters.

The army will continue to target IS locations and their movement near the Syrian borders, to pressure the group to open a channel for negotiations.

Meanwhile, the army began a new deployment operation in the eastern chain in the outskirts of Arsal, introducing a number of tanks and improvising new posts on hilltops.

This comes as complementary to the army's measures started yesterday in in the liberated Arsal outskirts, after the withdrawal of ten thousand militants of Nusra Front and "Saraya Sham." (end) wsm.mb
