Pakistan- Religious scholar shot dead in Charsadda


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) CHARSADDA, 26 July: Unidentified armed men shot dead a religious scholar in Shabqadar area of Charsadda on Wednesday.

Police said Maulana Haq Nawaz, patron of Mahmoodia Madrassa, was going home from mosque after offering Fajr (morning) prayer in Mata Mughalkhel area when unidentified armed men opened fire on him. The area people staged protest after the murder of religious scholar and demanded arrest of killers.

Meanwhile, the security forces imposed night-time curfew in Saro Killi area of Shabqadar due to security concerns. The curfew will remain in place from 9:30pm to 4:30am. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sajjad said motorcycle riding has also been banned in the area. He said the curfew will remain in place till improvement in situation.
