(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) TEHRAN, June 25 (KUNA) -- Iranian security forces have rounded up over 50 elements linked to terrorist groups in Iran's western province of Kermanshah, a prosecutor says.

"After the terrorist attacks in Tehran, more than 50 elements linked to terrorist groups have been arrested so far in Kermanshah Province," provincial prosecutor, Nemat Sadeqi, told reporters on Sunday.

He added that a considerable amount of explosive belts, electronic detonators, and weapons have also been confiscated from the detainees.

On June 7, gunmen carried out almost simultaneous assaults on Iran's Parliament and the Mausoleum of Imam Khomeini, killing 17 people and injuring over 50 others.

The so-called Islamic State (IS) group claimed responsibility for the attacks. (end) fz.ibi
